Václavek provides a survey of the German literature in Terezín. He argues that
German literature and theatre were more conservative than the Czech variety. In Terezín the last
generation of the Prague German-Jewish literature can be witnessed. However, the well-known
writers emigrated before the start of the deportations. For this reason, German poetry from
Terezín was never widely known. The author introduces some of the German artists and their
work.
